The DARING Cross Border Conference: New Perspectives and Solutions on Neurodegenerative Carewill take place on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, starting at 2:30 p.m., at the headquarters of Sviluppo Italia Molise, in Via Nazario Sauro 1, Campobasso, Italy. The event will also be accessible online via Microsoft Teams.

The conference is part of DARING – Digital Advancement and Resilience in Neurodegenerative Healthcare through Innovation and SMEs, a project co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A IPA South Adriatic Programme. Led by the Polytechnic University of Bari, DARING brings together partners from Italy, Albania and Montenegro with the aim of promoting innovation, resilience and cross-border cooperation in the field of neurodegenerative healthcare.

The event will present the first outcomes of the project and will offer an international forum for discussion among researchers, healthcare professionals, innovation actors, SMEs, patients and caregivers. In particular, the conference will focus on the analysis of the clinical and social needs of patients and caregivers, the role of companies, patents and funding opportunities, and the European and Italian regulatory framework.

The first session, “DARING first outcomes”, will include contributions from Alzheimer Bari, the Clinical Center of Montenegro, Metroresearch Center, the Polytechnic University of Bariand Sviluppo Italia Molise. Speakers will share insights on the holistic needs of patients and caregivers, company and patent analysis, funding opportunities and regulatory aspects.

The second session, “DARING perspectives”, will feature a series of technical contributions on emerging solutions and research perspectives in neurodegenerative care. Topics will include point-of-care testing for Alzheimer’s disease, co-design approaches for dementia care, neuroinflammation and biomarkers, biomedical and health informatics, and the gap between patients’ needs, service provision and regulatory frameworks in Albania.

By fostering dialogue between patients, caregivers, the healthcare sector and the technology industry, DARING aims to ensure that digital health tools are developed in response to real-life needs and can contribute to improving the quality of life of people affected by neurodegenerative diseases.

The conference will conclude with a summary of the main outcomes and an interactive session based on a QR-code survey.
